Kickoff is this Saturday at 7pm at Legion Field
Note- A special half time presentation will be made to the Pomeroy group for their generous donation to amateur football in the City.

The 'Ship Sinks
Despite a sell out crowd and a whole city behind them the GP Drillers couldn't pull off the W. The folks came out in droves on Saturday night with close to 1500 strong the Drillers faithful were expecting a win, unfortunately the Wolfpack had other ideas.
Hoping to come out the gate hot and hard, the Drillers normally explosive offence was stifled for much of the game. The Defence was unable to stop the Wolfpacks Dink and Dunk O. By the middle of the third quarter the Drillers finally looked like they were going to get the ball moving but were unable to keep the ball moving. 38-14 was the finally Score.

Goin' to The 'Ship
The Drillers will be moving on to their 1st ever championship game after 8 years in the AFL. We defeated the Central Alberta Buccaneers 40-18 on Saturday. Drillers defence kept the game from getting out of hand in the first half, being down 11-10 at halftime. Coach Trevor Prichard settled our nerves and got our heads together at the half. It was time for the offence to pick up their game and start putting points on the board.
The Drillers will take this week to prepare for the Calgary Wolfpack as they defeated Lloydminster 34-26 on the weekend.
Game is scheduled to be played at Legion Field at 7pm, as long as all the work has been finished.
Nathan Aldred went 22 of 33 for 372 yards and passed for 4 touchdowns. Ray Moskalyk had 23 carries for 139 yards and 1 rushing TD. Ty Besstte had a TD and Symon Pfau continued his touchdown streak adding 3 more to his total. John Warr was a big part of the receiving core having 7 catches for 137 yards. Craig Nellis and Rueben Aldred both got sacks in the game.

Undefeated In the Regular Season
The Drillers final regular AFL season game went the way we wanted… VICTORIOUS a 35-28 win over the Vandals. The Vandals were the first to score putting up 10 points before the Drillers turned it on, 21-12 at the half. When we came out in the second half the Vandals made some adjustments but it didn’t quite stop Nathan Aldred from throwing the ball around the field. Nate went 28 for 37 with 393 yards and 5 touchdowns thru the air, also adding 105 yards rushing. Symon Pfau had 13 catches 172 yards and 2 touchdowns. Brent Fulmek added 123 yards with 2 touchdowns. John Warr sealed the deal with 81 yards and 1 td. Tyler Boyd, Dave Hewson and James Kostuk all got an interception.
With this the Drillers finish 1st overall at 7-0 giving us a bye to the semi-finals on August 13th . We will be meeting the lowest seeded team that comes out of the quarter-finals.
Quarter-Finals are as follows
Stallions 6th @ Vandals 3rd
Gators 5th @ Buccaneers 4th
Central Alberta Buccaneers 46 @ Edmonton Renegades 0
Edmonton Army 0 @ Calgary Wolfpack 39
Calgary Gators 30 @ Edmonton Stallions 13

6-0 and One More to Go
After a very tight game one week earlier, the Drillers Prepared to face a less worthy adversary in the Central Alberta Buccaneers. With a hard week of practice under their belts and hours of film study GP was more then ready for anything the Bucs had in store for them. From the opening kickoff the Blue and Gold had full control of the ball game. Recovering the opening boot Grande Prairie never looked back, with over 500 yards of offence and a near perfect game from the defence the GP Drillers look to be in tip top form. The final score 71-0
Drillers win 50-49
The Drillers had a battle on their hands Saturday night, between the weather and poor field conditions it was an interesting game. The scoring started quick and often with the Wolfpack grabbing an early 12-0 lead, the Drillers fought back quickly with 2 td’s of their own. A quick hitter to Symon Pfau for 62 yards then Nate decided to call his own number for a 60 yard TD to take the lead 14-12. The pack wasn’t done there, they were able to control the clock in the first half and took a 33-14 lead at the half. Drillers regrouped at the half and came out with nothing to lose, applying the pressure and not letting up. Sticking to the ground and fighting for yards, Brent Fulmek and Travis Miller put up 150+ rushing yards. It came down to the wire with under 1 minute remaining the Drillers gambled on a few 3rd downs to move closer to the end zone and scored. Down by one GP kicked the Point after for the tie but the refs decided to throw a flag. Having to redo the point after, Nathan and Trevor decided to change it up and go for two and the win, Nate was able to hook-up with Brent in the end zone. The Pack got the ball back with 36 seconds left and they marched down the field and were able to get into field goal range. The kick came up wide right. Nathan Aldred 1 td, Symon Pfau 2 td, Brent Fulmek 3 td, and Travis Miller 1 td Tyler Fulmek went six for six on extra points.

Fight For First Place
Saturday July 9th 2011 marks the battle for first place in the AFL. The 4-0 Drillers do battle vs the 4-0 Calgary Wolfpack.
4-0
The Drillers had a battle on their hands Saturday night, missing a few key components on offence and defence they were up for the task. With first possession of the football the Drillers reacted quickly and vigorously with a first play 70 yard touchdown pass. The Drillers defence didn't fair so well. On a penalty riddled drive defence the Stallions answered directly back. With 7-7 on the board the Offence went to work, with back to back drives by said offence the tide quickly turned in the Drillers favour and they never looked back. The final score Drillers 46-20 win Grande Prairie improves to 4-0
Drillers Win Big in Home Opener
It was a wet Saturday night for a football game. The Drillers came out on top with a 54-16 victory over the Edmonton Army. Drillers started off strong with a quick 21-0 lead by the end of the 1st quarter. Symon Pfau had 4 touchdown receptions with Ace Carlson joining with one while Brent Fulmek and Travis Miller added to the score on the ground. Dave Hewson contributed with a safety. Tyler Fulmek added a field goal to round out the scoring. A couple dropped balls and bad penalties gave the Army good field position, which they were able to capitalize on. They came out slow in the first quarter then got things going and put up a good fight and a great showing for the fans.
We our asking the fans to call crime stoppers, for an incident of theft during the game. Money, credit cards, and cell phones were stolen from the dressing rooms. This is not a good showing for the city of GP as we were the hosts. If anyone seen or heard something please come forward.
Edmonton Renegades 0 @ Calgary Wolfpack 30
Edmonton Stallions 9 @ Lloydminster Vandals 27
Calgary Gators 29 @ Central Alberta Buccaneers 30
2-0 looking for 3
After a tough game 2 against the Calgary Gators your Grande Prairie Drillers gear up for another battle vs the Edmonton Garrison Army, who in their second year have a much improved squad.
